Most people might associate big restaurants with dressing up, sitting at tables, getting out of the house, and leaving a tip. We only care about the food. If the food is good, we will check out the menu and see what we can try as a take out dish. It’s not that we don’t enjoy the places with the fancy setup and great service. Sometimes we’d just prefer to get curbside and eat at home. Reasons you might not dine-in at a restaurant include the wait time, the noise, and the lack of convenience.
The Wait Time
The longest time I think we’ve ever waited for a table had to be 45 minutes to an hour. Of course, that was long before our daughter was born. Waiting outside of restaurants is only fun when you’re on a date, out with friends, or are really into your significant other. For me and the hubby, it tends to show our lack of compatibility. We get along much better at home. I also think that if the food is going to be delivered, or if you know how long you have before you need to pick it up, you can plan accordingly. I can take those wait times and get other things prepared at the house. If we’ve had to cook additional food to go with the dish, or if we need to get washed up, we can do all of that on our own time.
The Noise
Even if we did have something to talk about, restaurants can be quite distracting. There is noise at each table, and if you’ve picked the wrong night to go out, like an event night, you could really suffer. We don’t like being the center of attention, however we don’t mind people watching. People watching feels so much more comfortable when we’re sitting outside on our balcony. Free to talk as low as we please, and if we are being watched it wouldn’t be by as many as in a restaurant.
The Lack Of Convenience
When you’re sitting in a restaurant, everything is on your server’s time. The check, the to-go boxes, your water refill, and even when you can place your order. When you order curbside, the first thing you do is place an order. It’s really simple, and when you’re done eating, you’re done. The food is already paid for, and if you’re home, you’re only steps away from the kitchen. The only problem with delivery is the fee. They now add a premium to your order before you even tip the driver. That’s why when we get pizza, we do pizza carry out Eastgate OH. We only get delivery if we are just too tired or busy.
Conclusion
Restaurants are nice for the different taste of food, but when we visit them, we prefer to take our food home. One thing we have noticed is some restaurants try to give smaller portions on their carryout dishes. I guess they figure customers won’t notice, but we have. Sometimes that’s a deal breaker for us, other times we laugh it off, but they won’t force us to dine-in. Reasons you might not dine-in at a restaurant are the wait time, the noise, and the inconvenience it brings.
